ASG is one of those bands that can tear me out of my seat regardless of surroundings, much like the way Earth did as I sat glued to the silent Panthers broadcast during their 2-1 victory over Vancouver last night. Just now, I had to control the urge to begin the charge up and down the aisles of my office. Sadly, academia frowns on such behavior despite it’s invigorating consequences, so I came to blog about it. Like a nerd.
ASG recently signed a deal with Relapse Records and immediately cascaded into a series of south eastern dates with a variety of different lineups. I know Brevard county’s Octopoid slew ‘alongside the sludge rock bulldozer last Friday, and if history stands consistent I’m sure much fun was had amongst the surely congested oceans of ass shaking occurring. Brevard county seems to be known for their incapable ability to shake it to even the most jarring new Willenium metalcore, and even ASG.
But this Wednesday they’re joined by the veteran Delando denizens: Junior Bruce. The bruce dudes recently signed to A389 Records for their debut LP. I personally have some guest vocals on that record, and I can attest to it’s gritty and smothering presentation. We’ll have a review coming for that one later this week. The lineup is also joined by Lakelando post-metallers Portals and the triple guitar southern metal onslaught to be unleashed by King Hippo.
There’s more. If you show up before 9pm you’ll get to partake in a wonderful art show at Will’s Pub organized by Noah Howell entitled Consilence.
Here’s the flier, click it for a link to the Facebook event for more info. Sorry that King Hippo isn’t on the flier!
